Estate Administration

Estate administration is the process of liquidating a decedent’s estate. Throughout this process, whoever takes on the role of executor, personal representative or trustee of an estate works in a fiduciary capacity and is responsible for collecting and marshaling all of the decedent’s assets, paying any debts and taxes due, distributing inheritances, accounting for and closing the estate or trust. Depending on the nature and complexity, this process could take years. The fiduciary in charge of the estate is compensated for their efforts with a sliding percentage of the gross estate.

The estate administration process can be overwhelming and complicated.  At Alison Mathey Lambeth Law, we will guide the executor, personal representative or trustee through all hoops of administering an estate and make it as quick and painless as possible. When a loved one dies, emotions in the family can be high.  We are here as a neutral party to see that the decedent’s wishes are carried out while assisting fiduciaries in the most efficient way possible.
